Becoming a Freemason

If after reading the information on this site you feel you would like to become a Freemason we would suggest the folllowing course of action:

  • If you know someone who is a Freemason (a friend or famliy member perhaps) then talk to him.  He will be able to answer your questions and introduce you to a suitable Lodge.
  • Contact the United Grand Lodge of England who will be able to assist you by putting you in contact with local Freemasons.
  • If you are local to Farnborough please contact us and we will endeavour to assist you.

The usual process of becoming a Freemason is for you to get to know a prospective Lodge and its members.  They may invite you for a social drink first to find out a little more about you and why you wish to become a Freemason.  You may be invited to a Lodge's social event so you can meet some more of the members and get a feeling for the Lodge.  To join any Lodge you will need a poposer and seconder, by inviting you to meet with the members it may be possible to introduce you to members who would be willing to act as your proposer and seconder.

After a period of time the Lodge committee may wish to formally interview you as a prospective member.  Following the interview you will be proposed in open Lodge and a ballot will be held whereby every member can vote on whether you will be accepted as a member of the Lodge.  If the ballot is successful the Lodge Secretary should be in communication with you very soon to arrange a date for your initiation into our ancient and honourable fraternity.

Be warned however that the process of joining may not happen quickly, but be assured, that should you eventually find yourself at the door of the Temple on the evening of your initiation you will be at the start of a wonderful personal journey of development and improvement.

Seek, and ye shall find; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
